Dom Petrarca begins his second season as an assistant menís soccer coach at Rhode Island College. Petrarca is the son of Rhode Island College Athletic Hall of Famer Domenico Petrarca í77 who is the second leading scorer in RIC menís soccer history.

 

 

 

Prior to arriving at RIC, Petrarca served as the varsity head coach for the South Kingstown High School girls soccer team, while also acting as the assistant boys varsity coach and head boys junior varsity coach. During his tenure at South Kingstown, the junior varsity boys program twice captured the Division I State Championship (2011 and 2012).  Petrarca has also worked locally with the Rams F.C., Ocean State Soccer and the Rhode Island Olympic Development Program.

 

A decorated student-athlete, Petrarca excelled locally at La Salle Academy, earning All-State honors twice and leading the Rams to four straight Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division I Championships. He was tabbed as the Rhode Island High School Gatorade Player of the Year in 2005.

 

 

 

Petrarca went on to an illustrious career as a defender at the University of Rhode Island where he helped lead the squad to the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2006 and a berth in the second round of the NCAA Championships. A four-year letterwinner at URI, he appeared in 76 games for the Rams and captained the team during his senior season.

 

 

He earned a bachelorís degree in business management from URI in 2010.
