Harrison Barlow begins his first season as an assistant baseball coach at Rhode Island College. Barlow assists Head Baseball Coach Scott Virgulak and Assistant Coach Joe Vigeant with all facets of the program.

“Harrison is a great addition to our coaching staff and I am real excited about him now being a part of RIC Baseball,” said Virgulak. “He made an immediate impact with us in the fall. His knowledge and passion for the game, and pride in the talent that comes out of Rhode Island, is a big addition to the RIC Baseball family.”

Barlow comes to RIC after spending last season as an assistant coach at Salve Regina. He helped lead Salve Regina to the program’s first Commonwealth Coast Conference championship in 10 years. He also spent the last two summers on the coaching staff for the Ocean State Waves of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).

“I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to continue my coaching career in my home state of Rhode Island and join the Rhode Island College Baseball community,” Barlow said. “I have had many positive influences from coaches throughout my life and realize the lasting impact that those have had on me. I look forward to working with a great group of young men and hopefully being able to have that same lasting positive influence on them both on and off the field.”

An accomplished player at the high school and collegiate level, Barlow was the 2011 Gatorade Player of the Year at South Kingstown High School and was part of a nationally-ranked recruiting class at the University of Rhode Island.

Barlow is a 2015 graduate from URI with a bachelor’s degree in both criminology and biology. He is single and resides in Narragansett.
