Matt Bergeron enters his second season with the Rhode Island College baseball program. He primarily serves as the team’s catching coach and recruiting coordinator. He also assists Head Coach Jay Grenier with all phases of the RIC baseball program, including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and game coaching. During games, he serves as the team's first base coach.

Bergeron has coached both the Major League Baseball sponsored Pawtucket RBI program, as well as the Cumberland American Legion 18 and under program.

In addition to his coaching duties, he is a teacher at  Shea High School in the Pawtucket School District.

He received a bachelor degree in secondary education Math from Rhode Island College in 2008. He currently is single and resides in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
