Peter Gbaa begins his
second year as an assistant men’s and women’s indoor
and outdoor track and field coach. He assists Head
Coach Kevin Jackson in all phases of the RIC track program
including recruiting, administering practices and meet
coaching. |

Gbaa was previously a volunteer coach
with the Providence Cobras, working with boys and girls in the
hurdles, as well as, the long and triple jump events, in both 2007
and 2008. |
|
|
|
The Liberian native earned
All-Atlantic 10 honors in both men’s soccer and track while at the
University of Rhode Island from 2005-08. Gbaa earned All-Atlantic
10, All-New England and All-Regional honors in track for the Rams
during his career. |
|
|
|
He earned All-American honors in the
triple jump and as part of the 4x400 meter relay while at Lincoln
University in 2004-05. Gbaa also played soccer for the Lions. |
|
|
|
While at Hope High School, he
garnered All-New England honors in soccer to go along with
All-American honors in the triple jump and the 55, 60 and 110 meter
hurdles in track. He holds the Rhode Island state records in the 55,
60 and 110 meter hurdles. |
|
|
|
He earned a bachelor’s degree in
sociology from the University of Rhode Island in 2008. |
|
|
|
Gbaa is single and resides in
Providence. |
