Erin M. Miga ’09 was a dominant middle hitter for Rhode Island College’s women’s volleyball team from 2003-06. She helped lead RIC to the program’s only Little East Conference Regular Season Championship in 2004.

At the conclusion of her career, the Cranston, R.I. native was the program’s all-time leader in career kills, hitting attempts, hitting percentage and blocks. She also held four of the top five single-season hitting percentage marks. During her career, she played in 483 sets in 130 career matches. She totaled 1,343 kills (2.78/set), a .319 career hitting percentage, 94 service aces (.19/set), 162 digs (.335) and 570 blocks (1.18/set).

 

As a senior in 2006, Miga was named First Team All-Little East Conference for the third consecutive season and selected as the team’s MVP. She played in 115 sets in 31 matches, totaling 357 kills (3.10/set), a .337 hitting percentage, 23 service aces (0.2/set), 57 digs (.50/set) and 138 blocks (1.2/set). She earned Little East Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season.

 

 

 

As a junior in 2005, she was named First Team All-Little East Conference. Miga played in 126 sets in 36 matches. She had 383 kills (3.04/set), a .328 hitting percentage, five assists (0.04/set), 62 service aces (0.49/set), 69 digs (0.55/set) and 180 blocks (1.43/set). She was named the Little East Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week twice on the season.

 

As a sophomore in 2004, she was named First Team All-Little East Conference. Miga played in 126 sets in 33 matches. She had 325 kills (2.58/set), a .308 hitting percentage and 164 blocks (1.30/set). Miga was named to both the Springfield and RIC Invitational’s All-Tournament teams. She was named the Little East Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week once on the season.

 

 

 

As a freshman in 2003, she played in 116 sets in 30 matches. She had 278 kills (2.397/set), a .296 hitting percentage, three assists (0.026/set), nine service aces (0.078/set), 28 digs (0.241/set), and 88 blocks (0.759/set).

 

Miga earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Rhode Island College in 2009. She is currently a teacher at Horgan Elementary School and resides in Cranston, R.I. She was an All-State and All-Division selection during her high school career at Cranston High School East.
