Dana J. (Skorupa) Murnighan ’07 was a standout in both indoor and outdoor track & field as a sprinter from 2002-06. At the conclusion of her career, she held numerous RIC records for both programs.

During her indoor track & field career, the Cumberland, R.I. native claimed one ECAC, seven All-New England and 11 N.E. Alliance awards. She was the Little East and Alliance Champion in the 55m and the 200m as a junior in 2005, and the 200m and 400m champ as a sophomore in 2004. She was named the program’s MVP in 2003, ’04 and ’06.

 

During Murnighan’s outdoor track & field career, she earned three All-New England and 17 N.E. Alliance awards. As a senior in 2006, she was the Little East and Alliance Champion in the 100m, 200m and the long jump. She was the LEC and Alliance Champion in the 200m as a junior in 2005 and as a sophomore in 2004.

 

 

 

She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in special education from Rhode Island College in 2007.

 

Murnighan is currently a fifth grade special education teacher at the Wolf School in Rumford, R.I.
