Calderon and Nelson to Captain
Rhode Island College Menís Soccer


Providence, RIóRhode Island College juniors Johan Calderon (Pawtucket, RI) and Josh Nelson (Pascoag, RI) will captain the menís soccer team for the 2002 season.


Calderon, a midfielder, has yet to see action for RIC this fall. As a sophomore in 2001, Calderon played in 19 games, starting 16 of them. He had one goal and two assists for four points. He was tied for fifth on the team in scoring.


He is a computer information systems major and a 2000 graduate of Shea High School.


Nelson, a stopper, has played in three games, starting all of them. As a sophomore in 2001, he played in 20 games, starting all of them. He had one assist for one point on the season.


He is a physical education/health major and a 2000 graduate of Burrillville High School.


The Anchormen are currently 1-2 on the season. RIC earned its first win of the 2002 campaign with a 4-0 shutout over Rivier College on Sept. 11. In upcoming action, RIC will play at Newbury College on Saturday, Sept. 14.
