Rhode Island College Baseball Update #3

(12-8-1 Overall; 1-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Jay Grenierís team is currently 12-8-1 overall and 1-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC fell to UMass-Dartmouth, 19-3, on Apr. 10 and swept a non-conference doubleheader over St. Michaelís winning 6-2 and 11-1.

 

Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Glenn Dusablon (North Smithfield, RI) has played in 19 games, starting all of them. He is batting .373 with 28 runs, 28 hits, one double, two triples, two home runs, 16 RBI and seven stolen bases. As a pitcher, he has appeared in three games, starting two of them. He is 1-1 with a 5.24 ERA, two complete games and 19 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.

 

Junior first baseman Eric Gibree (Bristol, RI) has played in 21 games, starting all of them. He is batting .375 with 22 runs, 30 hits, five doubles, two triples, five home runs 29 RBI, and one stolen base.

 

Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Matt Brannon (Cranston, RI) has played in 21 games, starting all of them. He is batting .363 with 15 runs, 26 hits, four doubles, two triples and 18 RBI. As a pitcher, he has appeared in five games, starting four of them. He is 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA, one complete game and 24 strikeouts in 31.2 innings. Brannon threw a complete game and struck out nine in the 6-2 win over St. Michaelís.

 

Freshman outfielder Mike Naylor (Warwick, RI) has played in 21 games, starting all of them. He is batting .276 with 15 runs, 21 hits, five doubles, one triple 15 RBI, and six stolen bases.

 

Freshman infielder Adolfo Perez (Miami, FL) has played in 21 games, starting all of them. He is batting .262 with 21 runs, 22 hits, eight doubles, one home run, nine RBI and three stolen bases.

 

Junior pitcher John Botelho (Tiverton, RI) has appeared in seven games, starting four of them. He is 2-3 with a 4.24 ERA, two complete games and 32 strikeouts in 34.0 innings.

 

Freshman infielder Ray De La Cruz (Pawtucket, RI) has played in 20 games, starting 18 of them. He is batting .254 with 17 runs, 17 hits, seven doubles, one triple, five RBI, and four stolen bases.

 

Senior pitcher Dan Furtado (East Providence, RI) has appeared in five games, starting one of them. He is 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA, one save and 11 strikeouts in 11.0 innings.

 

Senior infielder Brian Peer (Windsor, CT) has played in 18 games, starting 16 of them. He is batting .276 with ten runs, 16 hits, four doubles and nine RBI.

 

Sophomore infielder Mike Luke (Cranston, RI) has played in nine games, starting seven of them. He is batting .217 with five hits, two doubles and five RBI.

 

Junior outfielder Chris Higgins (Swansea, MA) has played in three games, starting all of them. He is batting .500 with three runs, four hits, one triple and three RBI.

 

Sophomore pitcher Brian Baker (Newport, RI) has appeared in four games. He is 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA and four strikeouts in 10.0 innings.

 

Freshman pitcher Jason DeCesare (North Providence, RI) has appeared in three games. He is 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA, one save and six strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

 

Sophomore pitcher Jim Milano (Johnston, RI) has appeared in five games, starting four of them. He is 3-1 with a 4.88 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 24.0 innings.

 

Sophomore pitcher Alex Crotteau (Portsmouth, RI) has appeared in four games, starting all of them. He is 1-1 with a 6.50 ERA and seven strikeouts in 18.0 innings.

 

Freshman pitcher Brian Farley (North Providence, RI) has appeared in six games. He is 1-0 with a 16.20 ERA and five strikeouts in 6.2 innings.

 

Freshman outfielder Evan Aten (Middletown, RI) has played in 16 games, starting 13 of them. He is batting .170 with three runs, seven hits, two doubles and six RBI.

 

Sophomore catcher Chris Smaldone (Johnston, RI) has played in 15 games, starting all of them. He is batting .220 with five runs, 11 hits and seven RBI.

 

Sophomore catcher/infielder Anthony Pacitto (Johnston, RI) has played in 12 games, starting 11 of them. He is batting .184 with six runs, seven hits, one double and five RBI.

 

Freshman shortstop Nate Hood (Attleboro, MA) has played in two games. He has scored one run and has one RBI.

 

Freshman pitcher Wade Briggs (Woonsocket, RI) has appeared in three games. He is 0-0 with a 11.25 ERA and five strikeouts in 4.0 innings.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday, Apr. 15, play at Roger Williams on Apr. 16, and host Wentworth on Apr. 18 and Eastern Connecticut on Apr. 19.
