Warren’s Kyle Teixeira Named
Little East Conference Player of the Week


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI) was named the Little East Conference’s Player of the Week for his performance in men’s soccer last week. This is the second consecutive week Teixeira has received this honor. Teixeira has earned LEC Rookie of the Week honors as well this season.


Teixeira helped the Anchormen extend its winning streak to eight games, a new RIC record for a single season, by netting a goal in each of the team’s three wins last week. He scored the game-winning goals in victories over Salem State and Salve Regina.


For the season, he has played in nine games, starting all of them. He leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and four assists for a total of 28 points. He currently leads the conference in scoring.


He is a physical education major and a 2002 graduate of Mt. Hope High School.


Head Coach Len Mercurio’s team is 8-2 overall and is 1-0 in Little East Conference play. RIC notched victories over Salve Regina (2-1 OT), Salem State (2-0), and Southern Maine (5-1) last week. In upcoming action, RIC will host Worcester State on Oct. 2 and play at UMass-Boston on Oct. 5.
