Rhode Island College Women’s Outdoor Track Update #5

 

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the 2003 Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by RIC on Sunday, Apr. 27. The Anchorwomen placed fifth (ten teams) with a score of 55.0. Southern Maine was the Alliance Champion with a total score of 232. RIC placed third among Little East Conference institutions with a conference score of 80. The Huskies were also the LEC Champion with a conference score of 264.

 

Sophomore Kate McCalligett (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events. She placed second in the 400 meters and third in the 200 meters with times of 1:00.51 and 26.25 respectively. McCalligett placed third as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay and second as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay with times of 52.34 and 4:16.15 respectively.

 

Freshman Dana Skorupa (Cumberland, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events. She placed fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 13.01 and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.42. Skorupa placed third as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay and second as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay with times of 52.34 and 4:16.15 respectively.

 

Sophomore Courtney Gardiner (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events. She placed seventh in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump with leaps of 15’09.00” and 31’06.75” respectively. Gardiner placed third as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay and second as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay with times of 52.34 and 4:16.15 respectively.

 

Freshman Kim Cadden (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 1,500 meters, placing fifth with a time of 5:06.73. She also earned All-Alliance/Little East honors as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay team, which placed second with a time of 4:16.15.

 

Sophomore Jessica Leonard (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the hammer, placing third with a throw of 133’00.00”. She placed ninth in the shot at 26’09.75”.

 

Senior Joanne Pora (Attleboro, MA) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the javelin, placing sixth at 105’04.00”. Pora placed tenth in the shot with a distance of 26’04.25”.

 

Freshman Dana Schmidt (North Scituate, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay team, which placed third with a time of 52.34. She placed 18th in the 200 meters with a time of 30.96.

 

Sophomore Rebecca Horton (Seekonk, MA) placed 15th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:34.70.

 

Freshman Bridget Hjerpe (Cranston, RI) placed ninth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:19.91.

 

Freshman Tiffany Kirch (Hope, RI) placed 20th in the 200 meters with a time of 33.85.

 

Freshman Allison DeRoy (Smithfield, RI) placed 12th in the hammer with a distance of 90’08.00”.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the New England Division III Championships, hosted by Williams, on Saturday, May 3.
