Adolfo Perez Named LEC Baseball Rookie of the Week

Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman shortstop Adolfo Perez (Miami, FL) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week for his performance last week.

Perez helped Rhode Island College to a 5-2 week by collecting seven hits, three doubles and a home run in 20 at-bats for a .300 average. Perez, who drove in three runs and scored seven, had two hits in the regular season finale, a 3-2 victory over Western Connecticut on May 4, to help the Anchormen clinch a Little East Tournament berth.

For the season, Perez has played in 36 games, starting 35 of them. He is batting .265 with 33 runs, 36 hits, 14 doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI and three stolen bases.

He is a nursing major and 2002 graduate of Coral Park High School.

Head Coach Jay Grenierís team is currently 20-17-1 overall and 5-9 in the Little East Conference. RIC is the sixth seed in the Little East Conference Tournament and will face top-seeded Eastern Connecticut in Willimantic, CT on Wednesday, May 7.
