Rhode Island College Menís Soccer Update #7

(10-4-0 Overall, 2-1-0 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RIóHead Coach Len Mercurioís team is 10-4 overall and is 2-1 in Little East Conference play. The Anchormen defeated Bridgewater State, 2-1, on Oct. 17 before falling to Keene State, 2-1, on Oct. 19.

Freshman forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI) has played in 13 games, starting all of them. He leads the team in scoring with 15 goals and four assists for a total of 34 points. Teixeira scored goals in both games last week and was named the LECís Rookie of the Week, the second time heís earned that honor this fall. He has earned Player of the Week honors twice as well. Teixeira continues to lead the Little East Conference in scoring.

Freshman forward Cory Lopes (Somerset, MA) has played in 14 games, starting 13 of them. Lopes has ten goals and one assist for a total of 21 points on the season. He is second in the LEC in scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jason Nelson (Pascoag, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. He has totaled 64 saves and compiled a goals against average of 1.12 and a .800 save percentage. Nelson has led the team to four shutouts on the season.

Sophomore midfielder Tim Calouro (East Providence, RI) has played in 14 games, starting three of them. Calouro has totaled eight points on three goals and two assists.

Junior midfielder Jorge Pemberthy (Providence, RI) has played in 11 games, starting nine of them. Pemberthy has a goal and three assists for a total of five points on the season.

Freshman midfielder Chris Cunha (East Providence, RI) has played in eight games, starting one of them. He has two goals and one assist for five points on the season.

Sophomore midfielder German Cardona (Pawtucket, RI) has played in ten games, starting four of them. He has five points on one goal and three assists.

Sophomore stopper Alain Edouard (Providence, RI) has played in 13 games, starting ten of them. Edouard has three points on a goal and an assist.

Freshman forward Chris Childs (Cranston, RI) has played in eight games, starting one of them. Childs has four points on one goal and two assists.

Junior defender Paul Sousa (East Providence, RI) has played in 13 games, starting 11 of them. He has three assists on the season for three points.

Junior sweeper Brian Schimmel (Cumberland, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. He has three assists on the season for three points.

Freshman midfielder Matt Borges (New Bedford, MA) has played in 13 games, starting all of them. He has three assists for three points on the season.

Freshman midfielder Joe Mackinnon (West Greenwich, RI) has played in 13 games, starting one of them. Mackinnon has one goal for two points on the season.

Freshman defender Tim Poblocki (Thompson, CT) has played in 12 games, starting six of them. Junior stopper Josh Nelson (Pascoag, RI) has played in six games, starting five of them.

Freshman midfielder Josh Braga (Fall River, MA) has played in 14 games, starting 13 of them. He has one goal for two points on the season.

Freshman midfielder Daniel Toro (Pawtucket, RI) has played in 12 games, starting all of them. He has one assist for one point on the season.

Freshman defender Jeff Monica (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 11 games, starting ten of them.

Freshman defender Ryan Murphy (Somerset, MA) has played in three games.

Junior midfielder Johan Calderon (Pawtucket, RI) has played in six games, starting one of them.

Sophomore midfielder Mike Maciel (East Providence, RI) has played in ten games.

In upcoming action, RIC will play two big Little East Conference games this week. The Anchormen will play at Western Connecticut on Oct. 22 and host Plymouth State on Oct. 26.
