RICís Eric Gibree Earns First Team All-ECAC Honors in Baseball

Providence, RIóRhode Island College junior first baseman Eric Gibree (Bristol, RI) was named a First Team All-Star at first base by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for his performance in baseball this past season.

Gibree, who was also named First Team All-Little East Conference, played in 40 games, starting all of them. He batted .358 with 43 runs, 58 hits, ten doubles, three triples, ten home runs, 51 RBI, and one stolen base. Gibree set new single-season records in hits, RBI and total bases in 2003. He is 14 hits shy of the RIC all-time career mark, which he should break next season.

Gibree is a communications major and a 1999 graduate of La Salle Academy.

Head Coach Jay Grenierís team finished the season with a 20-19-1 overall record and was 5-9 in the Little East Conference. RIC saw its season end in an 8-0 loss to Western Connecticut on May 8 in the second round of the LEC Tournament, after falling in the opening round to top-seeded Eastern Connecticut, 6-2, on May 7. The squadís 20 wins doubled the teamís total from last year.
