Rhode Island Collegeís Kyle Teixeira Earns Fourth Team All-New England Honors


Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI) was named Fourth Team All-New England (Div. III) by the NSCAA for his performance in menís soccer this season.


Teixeira was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Offensive Player of the Year this past fall. He was also named First Team All-Little East as a forward. He played in 18 games, starting 17 of them. He led the LEC in goals and points, totaling 18 goals and five assists for 41 points. Of the Anchormenís 11 game-winning goals, Teixeira had seven of them. He was tied for the team lead in assists.


He is a physical education major and a 2002 graduate of Mt. Hope High School.


Head Coach Len Mercurioís team finished the season with an 11-8 overall record and a 2-5 (sixth place) mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen improved upon last seasonís 4-11-5 record with the help of the longest winning streak in school history, piling up eight consecutive victories during the 2002 campaign.
