Harris Powers RIC past Beacons

Providence, RI—Sophomore forward Jason Harris scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Rhode Island College to an 81-77 victory over UMass-Boston in men’s college basketball action.

It was the third straight victory for RIC, which improves to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Little East Conference. It is the first time the Anchormen have won three consecutive games since the 1998-99 season.

Junior guard Kamran Alemdar scored 19 points and junior guard Andre Daley dropped in 12 in the win. Freshman guard K.C. Grandfield dished out a game-high ten assists to go along with nine points.

Sophomore center Billy Allen scored 20 points and grabbed 14 points for the Beacons who fall to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the Little East.

RIC is off for finals and the holidays. The Anchormen will resume action on Friday, January 3 at home against St. Joseph’s (NY) at 6 p.m.
