Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Update #4

(1-6 Overall, 0-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Mike Kelley’s team is 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC fell to Johnson $ Wales, 55-45, on Dec. 10, lost to Roger Williams, 73-66, on Dec. 11 and to UMass-Boston, 84-55, on Dec. 14.

Junior guard Angela Sarette (Putnam, CT) has played in seven games, starting all of them. She is averaging 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 4.0 steals per game. Sarette has been the club’s leading scorer in five of RIC’s seven games this season.

Junior forward Liz Shields (Warwick, RI) has played in seven games, starting all of them. She is averaging 13.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. She has been the team’s leading rebounder in three of the squad’s seven games this season.

Junior guard Abby Ferri (Greene, RI) has played in seven games, starting all of them. She is averaging 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.5 steals per game.

Sophomore forward Becca Bissonnette (Danielson, CT) has played in seven games, starting all of them. She is averaging 7.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game.

Freshman forward Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) has played in seven games. She is averaging 2.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

Freshman forward Stacy Archambault (Woonsocket, RI) has played in seven games, starting four of them. She is averaging 2.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Freshman forward Betsy Bliven (Charlestown, RI) has played in seven games, starting three of them. She is averaging 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Freshman guard Lynn Bertherman (Slatersville, RI) has played in six games. She is averaging 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high ten points with four assists, two steals and two rebounds against UMass-Boston on Dec. 14.

Senior guard Alicia Hersperger (Providence, RI) has played in seven games. She is averaging 0.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

In upcoming action, RIC will break for finals before traveling to Arizona where they will face Drew and Anderson at the 2003 Grand Canyon Classic.
