Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Update #5

(1-8 Overall, 0-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Mike Kelley’s team is 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC fell to Anderson, 71-52, on Dec. 28 and Drew, 67-52, on Dec. 31 at the Trip Sports Classic held in Phoenix, Arizona.

Junior guard Angela Sarette (Putnam, CT) has played in nine games, starting all of them. She is averaging 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 4.1 steals per game. Sarette has been the club’s leading scorer in seven of RIC’s nine games this season, including a 19-point effort in the loss to Drew. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Trip Sports Classic. She currently leads the team in scoring and steals.

Junior forward Liz Shields (Warwick, RI) has played in nine games, starting all of them. She is averaging 12.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. She had ten points and five rebounds vs. Drew at the Trip Sports Classic.

Junior guard Abby Ferri (Greene, RI) has played in nine games, starting all of them. She is averaging 9.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game.

Sophomore forward Becca Bissonnette (Danielson, CT) has played in nine games, starting all of them. She is averaging 6.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game.

Freshman forward Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) has played in nine games. She is averaging 3.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Freshman forward Stacy Archambault (Woonsocket, RI) has played in nine games, starting six of them. She is averaging 2.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Freshman forward Betsy Bliven (Charlestown, RI) has played in nine games, starting three of them. She is averaging 2.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Freshman guard Lynn Bertherman (Slatersville, RI) has played in eight games. She is averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.

Senior guard Alicia Hersperger (Providence, RI) has played in nine games. She is averaging 0.7 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

In upcoming action, RIC will travel to Wesleyan on Jan. 9, and to Keene State on Jan. 11.
