Rhode Island College Menís Basketball Update #6

(8-4 Overall, 1-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Michael Kellyís team is 8-4 overall and 1-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC had its six-game winning streak snapped in a 99-88 loss to Keene State on Jan. 11. RIC picked up two non-conference victories last week, topping Newbury, 62-51, on Jan. 7 and Bridgewater State, 83-70, on Jan. 9. The six-game winning streak was the longest for the Anchormen since the 1989-90 season (13 years).

Junior guard Andre Daley (Boston, MA) has played in 12 games, starting ten of them. He is averaging 12.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Daley had 15 points, six boards and six steals in the win over Newbury.

Junior forward Johnafer White (Boston, MA) has played in 12 games, starting ten of them. He is averaging 12.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. White scored 24 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the victory over Bridgewater State.

Sophomore forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) has played in 12 games, starting 11 of them. He is averaging 10.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He had ten points and nine rebounds in the loss at Keene State.

Junior guard Kamran Alemdar (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in 12 games, starting 11 of them. He is averaging 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Alemdar scored 18 points and knocked down four three-pointers against Keene State.

Junior guard Lester Carter (Boston, MA) has played in 12 games, starting six of them. He is averaging 8.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Carter had ten points, nine boards, two assists and two steals vs. Newbury.

Freshman guard K.C. Grandfield (Dartmouth, MA) has played in 12 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 4.1 assists per game. Grandfield dished out a game-high nine assists in the win over Newbury.

Freshman forward Brian Stanko (Swansea, MA) has played in seven games. He is averaging 5.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

Sophomore forward Mike Bartunek (Durham, CT) has played in five games. He is averaging 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.

Freshman guard Gandhi Arias (Hartford, CT) has played in 11 games. He is averaging 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Sophomore forward Raleigh Brennan (Middletown, RI) has played in four games this season. He is averaging 2.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Freshman forward Brendan Mullen (Fairhaven, MA) has played in 10 games. He is averaging 1.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Junior guard Matt Records (East Greenwich, RI) has played in three games. He is averaging 0.7 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

Sophomore forward Brendan Baker (South Yarmouth, MA) has played in eight games. He is averaging 1.4 points and 0.5 rebounds per game.

Senior forward Mike Costigan (Pawtucket, RI) has played in 12 games. He is averaging 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will travel to Southern Maine on Jan. 14 and will host Plymouth State on Jan. 18.
