Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Update #8

(2-14 Overall, 1-6 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Mike Kelley’s team is 2-14 overall and 1-6 in the Little East Conference. RIC snapped a 12-game losing streak, downing Western Connecticut, 61-56, on Jan. 21. The win was RIC’s first LEC victory of the season. They Anchorwomen fell in their next contest to Eastern Connecticut, 60-39, on Jan. 25.

Junior guard Angela Sarette (Putnam, CT) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 15.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 4.0 steals per game. Sarette leads the Little East in steals. She had 15 points, seven boards and four steals in the win over Western Connecticut.

Junior forward Liz Shields (Warwick, RI) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.2 steals per game. Shields had 21 points, seven steals and six assists in the win over Western Connecticut.

Sophomore forward Becca Bissonnette (Danielson, CT) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 7.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Bissonnette posted a double-double, with 11 points and 12 rebounds, in the win over Western Connecticut.

Junior guard Abby Ferri (Greene, RI) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 8.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game.

Freshman forward Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) has played in 16 games. She is averaging 3.8 points, and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Freshman forward Stacy Archambault (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 16 games, starting 12 of them. She is averaging 2.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Freshman forward Betsy Bliven (Charlestown, RI) has played in 15 games, starting three of them. She is averaging 1.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Freshman guard Lynn Bertherman (Slatersville, RI) has played in 15 games. She is averaging 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

Senior guard Alicia Hersperger (Providence, RI) has played in 16 games. She is averaging 0.6 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will host UMass-Dartmouth on Jan. 28 before traveling to UMass-Boston on Feb. 1.
