Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Update #9

(3-16 Overall, 1-8 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Mike Kelley’s team is 2-16 overall and 1-8 in the Little East Conference. RIC dropped a close game to LEC rival UMass-Dartmouth, 62-59, on Jan. 28, before downing non-conference opponent Newbury, 74-65, on Jan. 30. RIC closed out the week with a 77-52 loss at UMass-Boston on Feb. 1.

Junior forward Liz Shields (Warwick, RI) has played in 19 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 12.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.2 steals per game. She had a game-high 24 points and six rebounds in the win over Newbury College.

Junior guard Abby Ferri (Greene, RI) has played in 19 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 10.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She scored a career-high 20 points in the loss vs. UMass-Boston.

Sophomore forward Becca Bissonnette (Danielson, CT) has played in 19 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 7.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. She had 14 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Newbury.

Junior guard Angela Sarette (Putnam, CT) has played in 17 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 15.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 3.9 steals per game. Sarette injured her knee against UMass-Dartmouth and missed the next two games. She is expected to be out for one week.

Freshman forward Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) has played in 19 games. She is averaging 3.7 points, and 4.1 rebounds per game. She hauled in a season high 16 rebounds in the loss to UMass-Dartmouth. It was the highest rebounding effort for the Anchorwomen this season.

Freshman forward Stacy Archambault (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 19 games, starting 16 of them. She is averaging 2.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Freshman forward Betsy Bliven (Charlestown, RI) has played in 17 games, starting three of them. She is averaging 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Freshman guard Lynn Bertherman (Slatersville, RI) has played in 18 games. She is averaging 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

Senior guard Alicia Hersperger (Providence, RI) has played in 19 games, starting two of them. She is averaging 0.9 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will play at Salve Regina on Feb. 4, before hosting Keene State on Feb. 8.
