Huskies Make History In Win Over Rhode Island College

          Providence, RI—University of Southern Maine guard Megan Cressler scored 12 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the Huskies past Rhode Island College, 64-49, in women’s collegiate basketball action.

The Huskies led were aided by a healthy rebounding advantage, hauling in 48 rebounds to RIC’s 28. Forward Kara Crockett scored 14 points and had nine rebounds, to lead four USM players in double figures in scoring. The win helps Southern Maine improve to 20-3 overall, and 11-1 in the Little East Conference. The Huskies reach the 20-win mark for the 23rd consecutive season, a new Division III record.

RIC forward Becca Bissonnette scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in the losing effort. The loss drops the Anchorwomen to 3-20 overall, and 1-11 in the Little East Conference.

In upcoming action, RIC will play UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
