ANCHORMEN HOLD OFF HUSKIES

          Providence, RIóRhode Island College held off a furious second-half rally by the University of Southern Maine to earn a 92-85 victory at the Murray Center. Despite scoring 63 points in the final frame, USM falls to 2-20 overall and 1-11 in the Little East Conference. RIC improves to 13-10 overall and 5-7 in the LEC.

 

J.O. White led five RIC players in double figures, scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. White made 12 of 14 free throws on his way to his ninth double-double of the season. Lester Carter chipped in with 19 points and ten boards. Jason Harris (12), Brian Stanko (11) and Kamran Alemdar (11) also reached double figures in scoring.

 

USM guard Jason Levecque put on a show in the second half where he scored 31 of his game-high 37 points in a losing effort.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play at UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
