Rhode Island College Men’s Basketball Update #11

(13-10 Overall, 5-7 in the Little East Conference)

 

Providence, RI--Head Coach Michael Kelly’s team is 13-10 overall and 5-7 in the Little East Conference. In last week’s action, RIC fell to Western Connecticut, 105-95, on Feb. 11 before rebounding to defeat Southern Maine, 92-85, on Feb. 15.

 

Junior forward Johnafer White (Boston, MA) has played in 23 games, starting 20 of them. He is averaging 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win over Southern Maine.

 

Freshman forward Brian Stanko (Swansea, MA) has played in 18 games, starting one of them. He is averaging 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Stanko earned LEC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance last week. He averaged 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Anchormen. This is the second time this season Stanko has received this award.

 

Junior guard Kamran Alemdar (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in 23 games, starting 22 of them. He is averaging 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.  He scored a season-high 29 points in the loss vs. Western Connecticut.

 

Junior guard Andre Daley (Boston, MA) has played in 23 games, starting 20 of them. He is averaging 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

 

Sophomore forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) has played in 23 games, starting 22 of them. He is averaging 9.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

 

Junior guard Lester Carter (Boston, MA) has played in 23 games, starting seven of them. He is averaging 10.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.  Carter had 19 points and ten rebounds in the win over Southern Maine, earning him a spot on the LEC Weekly Honor Roll.

 

Freshman guard K.C. Grandfield (Dartmouth, MA) has played in 23 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 5.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 5.0 assists per game.

 

Senior forward Mike Costigan (Pawtucket, RI) has played in 23 games, starting one of them. He is averaging 1.2 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Gandhi Arias (Hartford, CT) has played in 17 games. He is averaging 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman forward Brendan Mullen (Fairhaven, MA) has played in 13 games. He is averaging 1.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore forward Brendan Baker (South Yarmouth, MA) has played in 17 games. He is averaging 0.9 points and 0.6 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore forward Mike Bartunek (Durham, CT) has played in five games. He is averaging 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore forward Raleigh Brennan (Middletown, RI) has played in four games this season. He is averaging 2.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

 

Junior guard Matt Records (East Greenwich, RI) has played in three games. He is averaging 0.7 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

 

Junior forward Dan Bower (Sackets Harbor, NY) has played in two games, he is averaging 1.0 rebound per game.

 

Sophomore forward Harry Grigsby (Providence, RI) has played in six games, he is averaging 0.3 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore guard Dante Phillips (South Yarmouth, MA) severely injured his knee in practice last week and is likely out for the remainder of the season. He has played in one game, averaging 3.0 points per game.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will play at UMass-Dartmouth on Feb. 18 before traveling to Plymouth State on Feb. 22 to close out the regular season. The 2003 Little East Conference Tournament begins on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
