D’Alessandro Named Interim 
Assistant Athletic Director 
for Internal Affairs
at Rhode Island College


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College named Jo-Ann D’Alessandro as the Interim Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Affairs. "I am looking forward to joining the RIC athletic staff at my alma mater," D’Alessandro says. "It will be a new challenge for me and I am anxious to make a contribution to the college’s athletic programs."


D’Alessandro has served as the Recreation Director for the City of North Providence since 1995. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Recreation Director from 1987-95.

She was a 1999 inductee into the Rhode Island College Athletic Hall of Fame. D’Alessandro was a guard on RIC’s women’s basketball team from 1983-87. She is RIC’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,426 career points. She holds the RIC record for the most career assists and is second in career field goal percentage. D’Alessandro was a member of RIC’s ECAC Division III Championship team during the 1985-86 season.


D’Alessandro was formerly the Head Basketball Coach at Tolman High School in Pawtucket from 1992-95. During her career, she has also been an assistant coach at the Community College of Rhode Island and North Providence High School. She scored over 1,000 points during her high school career at North Providence High School and was inducted into the North Providence Sports Hall of Fame in 1988. D’Alessandro was inducted into the Sons of Italy Sports Hall of Fame in 1999.


She is a 1988 graduate of Rhode Island College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.


D’Alessandro resides in North Providence, Rhode Island.
