Sanborn and Wood to Captain
Rhode Island College Womenís Soccer

 

Providence, RIóRhode Island College senior Kim Wood (Little Compton, RI) and junior Elena Sanborn (North Scituate, RI) will captain the womenís soccer team for the 2003 season.

 

Wood, a defenseman, played in 19 games, starting all of them, in 2002. She had three goals and three assists for nine points. Wood was tied for third on the team in goals and was third in assists.

 

She is an elementary education major, with a minor in mathematics, and a 2000 graduate of Middletown High School.

 

Sanborn, a midfielder, played in 17 games, starting all of them, in 2002. She had one goal and four assists for six points. Sanborn was tied for second on the team in assists.

 

She is an elementary education major and a 2001 graduate of Scituate High School.

 

Head Coach Ryan Angelís team was picked to finish fourth in the Little East Conference Pre-season Coachesí Poll, the programís highest ever pre-season pick. The Anchorwomen open the season at the Union College Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7. RIC will face Union in the opener at 10 a.m. on Sept. 6.
