Rhode Island College Womenís Soccer Update #3

(3-4 Overall; 0-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Ryan Angelís team is 3-4 overall and 0-1 in Little East Conference play. In action last week, the Anchorwomen defeated Johnson and Wales, 1-0, in overtime on Sept. 16, then fell to Worcester State, 1-0, on Sept. 18 and Eastern Connecticut, 2-1, on Sept. 20.

 

Freshman forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) has played in seven games, starting all of them. She has six goals, three game-winners, and one assist for 13 points this season. Haaland scored the game-winning goal in RICís win over Johnson and Wales and scored the Anchorwomenís lone goal in the loss to Eastern Connecticut. Her performance last week earned her Little East Conference Womenís Soccer Rookie of the Week honors.

 

Junior midfielder Elena Sanborn (North Scituate, RI) has played in seven games, starting all of them. She has one goal and one assist for three points this season.

 

Junior forward Lauren Tomasso (Cranston, RI) has played in seven games, starting six of them. She has two goals for four points this season.

 

Junior forward Alexis Bouchard (Warren, RI) has played in seven games, starting two of them. She has one goal and one assist for three points this season.

 

Freshman midfielder Amanda Rinn (Warwick, RI) has played in three games. She has two goals for four points this season.

 

Freshman midfielder Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) has played in seven games, starting six of them. She has one goal and three assists for five points this season.

 

Senior midfielder Hollie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in seven games, starting four of them. She has two assists for two points this season.

 

Senior midfielder Jennifer Xynellis (Warwick, RI) has played in five games, starting all of them. She has one assist for one point this season.

 

Senior defender Kim Wood (Little Compton, RI) has played in seven games, starting all of them. She has one assist for one point this season.

 

Junior forward Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) has played in four games. She has one assist for one point this season.

 

Junior goalkeeper/midfielder Jessica Moran (Cumberland, RI) has played in seven games, starting four of them. She has made 30 saves while allowing seven goals in four games between the posts this season. Moranís current goals against average is 2.00. In the field, she has scored two goals for four points this season.

 

Junior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) has played in four games, starting three of them. She has made 17 saves while allowing three goals. Carpentierís current goals against average is 0.84. Carpentier earned her 13th career shutout in the overtime victory vs. Johnson & Wales, which tied her for the most all-time at RIC with current assistant coach Jessica Knobel (Robitaille) Ď00.

 

Senior defender Malissa Holden (Warwick, RI) has played in seven games this season, starting all of them.

 

Sophomore defender Krystal Alves (Warwick, RI) has played in two games this season.

 

Freshman defender Brittany Ford (Jamestown, RI) has played in six games this season, starting all of them.

 

Freshman midfielder Amanda Lemoi (West Warwick, RI) has played in seven games, starting three of them this season.

 

Sophomore defender Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in seven games this season, starting all of them.

 

Freshman forward Jennifer LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) has played in five games this season.

 

Junior defender Melissa Skodras (Warwick, RI) has played in four games, starting one of them this season.

 

Junior defender Courtney Gardiner (Warwick, RI) has played in three games this season.

 

In upcoming action, RIC travels to Westfield State College on Wednesday, Sept. 24, then hosts the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
