Wesleyan defeats Anchorwomen, 3-0

Providence, RIóRhode Island College fell to Wesleyan University, 3-0 (30-24, 30-24, 30-18), at home on Sept. 23. The Anchorwomen kept the first two games close, but the Cardinal held on, then put the home team away in the third game.

 

RIC was led by current Little East Womenís Volleyball Rookie of the Week middle hitter Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) who had a team-high nine kills and three service aces while also adding eight digs and one block. Sophomore libero Sara Chamberland (Coventry, RI) and freshman setter Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) led RIC with 11 and ten digs, respectively. Sarcione also had a team-high 25 assists.

 

Leading the way for Wesleyan were sophomore middle hitter Erin Reding (Darien, CT) and junior outside hitter Cynthia Ugbomah (Corona, NY) who each had 11 kills. Freshman libero Tory Molnar (Pasadena, CA) led the team is digs with 11 while Katie Annand (Wilmington, DE) contributed a match-high 45 assists.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will take part in the Bridgewater State Invitational on Sept. 26-27. The Anchorwomen will host the RIC Invitational on Oct. 3-4. RICís first match will be at 5 p.m. on Oct. 3.
