Rhode Island College Womenís Soccer Update #5

(5-6 Overall; 2-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Ryan Angelís team is 5-6 overall and 2-1 in Little East Conference play. In action last week, the Anchormen split two games, falling to Framingham State, 3-2 in double overtime, on Thursday, Oct. 2, then defeating LEC foe UMass-Boston, 7-0, on Saturday, Oct. 4.

 

Junior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) has played in eight games, starting seven of them. She has made 33 saves while allowing eight goals. Carpentierís current goals against average is 1.10. Carpentier earned her 14th career shutout in the victory vs. UMass-Boston on Oct. 4, which set a new record for the most career shutouts at RIC.

 

Freshman forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. She has seven goals, three game-winners, and one assist for 15 points this season.

 

Freshman midfielder Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) has played in 11 games, starting ten of them. She has four goals and three assists for 11 points this season. Gavin has tallied two game-winners this season.

 

Junior forward Alexis Bouchard (Warren, RI) has played in ten games, starting three of them. She has two goals and two assists for six points this season.

 

Junior midfielder Elena Sanborn (North Scituate, RI) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. She has three goals and three assists for nine points this season. Last week, she tallied five points on two goals and one assist.

 

Junior forward Lauren Tomasso (Cranston, RI) has played in 11 games, starting ten of them. She has two goals for four points this season.

 

Junior forward Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) has played in five games.  She has two goals and one assist for five points this season. St. Amand scored her first two career goals in a RIC uniform in the win over UMass-Boston.

 

Freshman midfielder Amanda Rinn (Warwick, RI) has played in five games. She has two goals for four points this season.

 

Freshman forward Jennifer LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) has played in nine games. She has one goal and one assist for three points this season.

 

Senior midfielder Hollie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in 11 games, starting eight of them. She has three assists for three points this season.

 

Senior midfielder Jennifer Xynellis (Warwick, RI) has played in eight games, starting eight of them. She has one goal and one assist for three points this season.

 

Senior defender Kim Wood (Little Compton, RI) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. She has one assist for one point this season.

 

Freshman midfielder Amanda Lemoi (West Warwick, RI) has played in ten games, starting three of them. She has one goal for two points this season.

 

Senior defender Malissa Holden (Warwick, RI) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. She has one assist for one point this season.

 

Junior defender Melissa Skodras (Warwick, RI) has played in five games, starting one of them. She has one assist for one point this season.

 

Junior goalkeeper/midfielder Jessica Moran (Cumberland, RI) has played in nine games, starting four of them. She has made 32 saves while allowing eight goals in five games between the posts this season. Moranís current goals against average is 2.02.  In the field, she has scored two goals for four points this season.

 

Sophomore defender Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in 11 games this season, starting all of them.

 

Freshman defender Brittany Ford (Jamestown, RI) has played in ten games this season, starting all of them.

 

Sophomore defender Krystal Alves (Warwick, RI) has played in three games this season.

 

Junior defender Courtney Gardiner (Warwick, RI) has played in five games this season.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Salve Regina University on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. and play at UMass-Dartmouth on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.
