Providence, RI—The Rhode Island College Anchorwomen dropped a close contest, 1-0, to in-state rival Roger Williams University in collegiate women’s soccer action. Junior midfielder Ashley Aldrich (Hardwick, MA) snapped the scoreless deadlock in the 70th minute to propel the Hawks to victory.

 

The Anchorwomen stepped up the offensive pressure on RWU sophomore netminder Meghan Banville (Topsfield, MA) in the second half as RIC outshot the Hawks 14-4. Banville made seven stops and was helped out by several key back saves in the win.

 

RIC junior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) made five saves in a losing effort.

 

With the victory, RWU improves its record to 5-11-2 while RIC drops to 6-10-1. In upcoming action, RIC will play at Plymouth State University in the Little East Conference regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 1 beginning at 1 p.m.
