Womenís Volleyball Update #8

(13-15 Overall; 4-3 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Craig Letourneauís Anchorwomen are 13-15 overall and 4-3 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen split two matches this past week. RIC first defeated Western New England, 3-2, on Oct. 28, then dropped a match to Endicott, 3-1, on Nov. 1.

 

The Anchorwomen finished the regular season in third place in the Little East, which is the teamís highest conference finish since 1998. RIC will host a first round Little East Tournament match vs. Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) has played in 91 games in 23 matches. She has 191 kills (2.099/game), a .210 hitting percentage, 37 service aces (0.407/game), 60 digs (0.659/game), and 21 blocks (0.231/game). Nix was named Little East Womenís Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts this past week.

 

Freshman middle hitter Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) has played in 109 games in 28 matches. She has 242 kills (2.220/game), a .200 hitting percentage, 16 assists (0.147/game), 81 service aces (0.743/game), 172 digs (1.578/game), and 55 blocks (0.505/game).

 

Freshman middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) has played in 109 games in 28 matches. She has 264 kills (2.422/game), a .303 hitting percentage, three assists (0.028/game), nine service aces (0.083/game), 27 digs (0.248/game), and 82 blocks (0.752/game).

 

Senior outside hitter Erica Poirier (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 104 games in 27 matches. She has 244 kills (2.346/game), a .154 hitting percentage, three assists (0.029/game), 35 service aces (0.337/game), 66 digs (0.635/game), and 50 blocks (0.481/game).

 

Freshman setter Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) has played in 109 games in 28 matches. She has 54 kills (0.495/game), a .231 hitting percentage, 880 assists (8.073/game), 48 service aces (0.440/game), 134 digs (1.229/game), and 19 blocks (0.174/game). Sarcione continues to add to her RIC-record amount of assists in a year. The previous record was 595 set in 1987 by Sharon Ferns í90.

 

Sophomore libero Sara Chamberland (Coventry, RI) has played in 108 games in 28 matches. She has 33 kills (0.306/game), a .104 hitting percentage, 15 assists (0.139/game), 11 service aces (0.102/game), 261 digs (2.417/game), and nine blocks (0.083/game). Last match, Chamberland set the RIC single-season record for digs in a season with her 260th. She passed former Anchorwomen and current assistant coach Erika Waltonen í02, who dug 259 balls in 2001.

 

Sophomore right side hitter Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 102 games in 26 matches. She has 88 kills (0.863/game), a .166 hitting percentage, 34 assists (0.333/game), 48 service aces (0.471/game), 230 digs (2.255/game) and nine blocks (0.088/game).

 

Freshman outside hitter Julie Seitsinger (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 84 games in 27 matches. She has 12 kills (0.143/game), a .044 hitting percentage, two assists (0.024/game), 25 service aces (0.298/game), 76 digs (0.905/game), and one block (0.012/game).

 

Junior outside hitter Vicky Bilalyan (Cranston, RI) has played in 40 games in 19 matches. She has one kill (0.025/game), two service aces (0.050/game), and 40 digs (1.000/game) this season.
