WARRIORS END ANCHORWOMEN’S SEASON

Plymouth, NH—Sixth-seeded Rhode Island College lost a close game, 1-0, to second-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University in the semi-final round of the 2003 Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament.

ESCU junior midfielder Megan Taylor (Manchester, CT) scored in the 16th minute and that would be all the Warriors would need to secure the victory. Senior goalkeeper Stacey Schofield (Woodstock, CT) made two saves to earn the shutout.

RIC junior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) made four saves in a losing effort.

The Anchorwomen end the ’03 campaign with a 7-12-1 overall record. RIC won in the first round of the tourney, defeating Plymouth State, 3-1, on Nov. 4. The Warriors, who are 10-6-1, advance to the Championship Game of the tournament and will face the winner of fourth-seeded Western Connecticut vs. top-seeded Keene State.
