Menís Cross Country Season Summary

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jacksonís menís cross country team closed out the 2003 season at the NCAA New England Regional Division III Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Nov. 15, and placed 16th (38 teams) with a team score of 436.

 

The Anchormen competed at the ECAC Division III Championships, hosted by Tufts University on Nov. 8, and placed 20th (33 teams) with a team score of 545.

 

RIC placed second, both overall and in the Little East Conference, with a team score of 99 at the Little East/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Nov. 1.

 

Senior Mike Basilico (Johnston, RI) concluded his cross country career by placing 175th with a time of 29:57 at the New England Division III Championships on Nov. 15. He finished 55th with a time of 21:28 at the Plansky Invitational * on Oct. 18. He placed 242nd with a season-best time of 27:58 at the New England Open Championships on Oct. 10. He placed 17th at the Tri-State Championships with a time of 29:14 on Oct. 4. He finished 21st with a time of 29:45 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. He placed eighth with a time of 29:51 at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 11.

 

As a junior in 2002, he placed 154th with a time of 28:21 at the New England Division III Championships. Basilico placed 101st at the ECAC Division III Championships with a time of 29:33. He placed 62nd at the Alliance Championships with a time of 29:41. Basilico placed 118th at the James Early Invitational with a time of 28:45. He placed 11th at the Roger Williams Invitational with a time of 29:30. Basilico placed 13th at the Tri-State Invitational with a time of 30:09. He placed 83rd with a season-best time of 28:03 at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.

 

Basilico is a communications major and a 1999 graduate of Johnston High School.

 

Senior Misha Knuettel (Warwick, RI) closed out his cross country career at the New England Division III Championships, placing 68th with a time of 27:55. He placed finished 20th with a season-best time of 27:41 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He was the top RIC runner at the Plansky Invitational * on Oct. 18, placing 21st with a time of 20:14.

 

He is a justice studies major and a 1999 graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School.

 

Senior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) closed out his cross country career holding 13 of the top 100 times in Rhode Island College history. His time of 26:46, set during the 2001 season, is the 14th fastest time in school history.

 

As a senior in 2003, Rudd placed 84th with a time of 28:11 at the New England Division III Championships on Nov. 15. He placed 17th with a time of 27:33 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He finished 32nd with a time of 20:39 at the Plansky Invitational * on Oct. 18. He placed 31st with a time of 31:16 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 207th with a season-best time of 27:26 at the New England Open Championships on Oct. 10. He placed 17th with a time of 29:31 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. He finished fifth with a time of 28:49 at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 11. He placed 27th with a time of 28:39.71 at the Hayseed Classic on Sept. 6.

 

As a junior in 2002, he placed 89th with a time of 27:37 at the New England Division III Championships. Rudd placed 46th with a time of 28:14 at the ECAC Division III Championships. He placed 17th overall, with a time of 26:46 at the Alliance Championships. He placed first with a time of 28:31 at the Eastern Nazarene Invitational. He placed 14th with a time of 27:42 at the James Early Invitational. Rudd placed 16th with a time of 28:40 at the Tri-State Championships. He placed fourth with a time of 28:15 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational. He placed 63rd with a season-best time of 27:06 (also the teamís season-best time) at the UMASS-Dartmouth Invitational. Rudd placed eighth with a time of 28:56 at the CCRI Invitational.

 

Rudd is a political science major and a 1999 graduate of Pilgrim High School.

 

Junior Matt Faria (Seekonk, MA) placed 117th with a time of 30:05 at the ECAC Division III Championships on Nov. 8. He placed 66th with a time of 30:32 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He was the top RIC runner at the Roger Williams Invitational, finishing 14th with a time of 30:02 on Oct. 11. He placed eighth at the Tri-State Championships with a season-best time of 28:32 on Oct. 4. He finished 40th with a time of 31:39 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational Sept. 27. He placed 127th with a time of 30:09 at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20. He finished 65th with a time of 32:27.26 at the Hayseed Classic on Sept. 6.

 

Junior captain Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) was the Anchormenís top runner at the New England Division III Championships, placing 56th with a time of 27:39, on Nov. 15. He finished 27th with a time of 20:31 at the Plansky Invitational * on Oct. 18. He placed 187th with a season-best time of 27:10 at the New England Open Championships on Oct. 10. He placed sixth at the Tri-State Championships with a time of 28:11 on Oct. 4. He was the Anchormenís top runner, placing fifth with a time of 28:22 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. Parenteau finished sixth with a time of 28:55 at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 11. He was the Anchormenís top runner at the Hayseed Classic on Sept. 6, placing 26th overall with a time of 28:39.

 

Junior Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI) placed 165th with a time of 31:39.82 at the ECAC Div. III Championships on Nov. 8. He finished 75th with a time of 31:44 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov.1. He placed 42nd with a time of 31:52 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 51st with a season-best time of 31:25 at the Tri-State Championships on Oct. 4. He placed 47th with a time of 32:37 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. He finished 153rd with a time of 31:39 at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20. He placed 19th with a time of 32:27 at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 11.

 

Sophomore Tim Goodwin (Warwick, RI) placed 131st with a time of 29:09 at the New England Division III Championships on Nov. 15. He finished 28th with a time of 28:27 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 238th with a season-best time of 27:52 at the New England Open Championships on Oct. 10. He placed 33rd with a time of 30:28 at the Tri-State Championships on Oct. 4. He finished 14th with a time of 29:28 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. He was the top RIC runner at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, placing 85th with a time of 28:38 on Sept. 20. He finished seventh with a time of 29:06 at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 11.

 

Sophomore Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) was the Anchormenís top runner at the ECAC Div. III Championships on Nov. 8, placing 24th overall with a time of 28:05. He was RICís top runner at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, finishing 14th with a time of 27:22 on Nov. 1. He placed 33rd with a time of 20:39 at the Plansky Invitational * on Oct. 18. He finished 30th with a time of 31:16 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He was the top RIC runner at the New England Open Championships on Oct. 10, placing 166th with a team season-best time of 26:56. He finished 13th at the Tri-State Championships with a time of 29:01 on Oct. 4. He placed 12th with a time of 29:01 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27.

 

Freshman Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed 99th with a time of 28:23 at the New England Division III Championships on Nov. 15. He finished 29th with a time of 28:32 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 192nd with a time of 27:13 at the New England Open Championships on Oct. 10. He was the top RIC runner at the Tri-State Championships, placing second with a season-best time of 27:09 on Oct. 4. He finished 31st with a time of 30:34 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. Lonergan was the top RIC runner at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 11, placing third with a time of 28:10.  He finished 41st with a time of 29:37.64 at the Hayseed Classic on Sept. 6.

 

Freshman Andy Neil (Warwick, RI) finished 226th with a time of 32:28 at the New England Division III Championships on Nov. 15. He placed 184th with a time of 32:37 at the ECAC Div. III Championships on Nov. 8. He finished 67th with a season-best time of 30:41 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 29th with a time of 31:14 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 57th with a time of 32:27 at the Tri-State Championships on Oct. 4. He placed 34th with a time of 30:57 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. He finished 148th with a time of 31:20 at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20. He placed 60th with a time of 31:56.47 at the Hayseed Classic on Sept. 6.

 

Freshman Javon Partin (Providence, RI) placed 99th with a time of 29:38.84 at the ECAC Div. III Championships on Nov. 8. He finished 50th with a time of 29:41 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 295th with a time of 29:36 at the New England Open Championships on Oct. 10. He placed 21st with a season-best time of 29:28 at the Tri-State Championships on Oct. 4. He finished 22nd with a time of 29:56 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 27. He placed 126th with a time of 30:02 at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20. He finished 11th with a time of 30:34 at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 11.
