Rhode Island College Softball Update #1

(4-6 Overall; 0-0 in the Little East)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Maria Morin’s team is 4-6 overall and has yet to play a Little East Conference game. The squad’s first ten games took place from March 7-13 at the Sun West Classic in Orange, CA.

 

Senior outfielder Sue Gaber (Colchester, CT) has played in ten games, starting all of them. She is batting a team-best .412 while also leading the squad with 14 hits, seven runs scored, a .441 slugging percentage and a .432 on-base percentage. Gaber also has one double, two walks, four RBI and a .917 fielding percentage.

 

Senior pitcher/designated player Kim Warrington (North Kingstown, RI) has played in seven games, starting five of them. She is batting .200 with three hits, two walks and one run scored. Warrington owns a .200 slugging percentage, a .294 on-base percentage and a .909 fielding percentage. On the mound, Warrington has appeared in seven games, starting five games. She owns a 1-4 record with a 4.04 ERA. In 35.2 innings pitched, she has struck out a team-high 42 batters.

 

Junior catcher Rachael Caldwell (Richmond, RI) has played in ten games, starting all of them. She is batting .296 with eight hits, one double, three walks, four runs scored and two RBI. Caldwell owns a .333 slugging percentage, a .406 on-base percentage and a .972 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman catcher/infielder Kristyn Alexander (East Wareham, MA) has played in ten games, starting all of them. She is batting .344 with 11 hits, one double, one walk, three runs scored and seven RBI. Alexander owns a .375 slugging percentage, a .353 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Junior infielder Amy Machado (Newport, RI) has played in ten games, starting all of them. She is batting .276 with eight hits, two doubles, one walk, two runs scored and three RBI. Machado owns a .345 slugging percentage, a .323 on-base percentage and a .864 fielding percentage.

 

Junior infielder Aimee Reed (Pawcatuck, CT) has played in six games, starting four of them. She is batting .250 with one hit, three walks, one run scored and one RBI. Reed owns a .250 slugging percentage, a .250 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman pitcher Nicole Riley (North Providence, RI) has appeared in seven games, starting five of them. She owns a 3-2 record with a 3.18 ERA. In 28.1 innings pitched, she has struck out 27 batters.

 

Freshman infielder Crystal O’Connell (Somerset, MA) has played in ten games, starting all of them. She is batting .278 with five hits, one double, one walk, three runs scored and three RBI. O'Connell owns a .333 slugging percentage, a .316 on-base percentage and a .929 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore outfielder Megan Ponte (Wakefield, RI) has played in ten games, starting nine of them. She is batting .280 with seven hits, one triple, four walks, four runs scored and four RBI. Ponte owns a .360 slugging percentage, a .379 on-base percentage and a .750 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore infielder Alyssa Severino (Taunton, MA) has played in six games, starting all of them. She is batting .167 with one hit. Severino owns a .167 slugging percentage, a .167 on-base percentage and a .857 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore outfielder Andree Sitnik (Lincoln, RI) has played in seven games, starting one of them. She is batting .250 with one hit. Ponte owns a .250 slugging percentage, a .250 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Senior outfielder Hollie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in seven games, starting three of them. She is batting .091 with one hit, two walks and one RBI. Benevides owns a .091 slugging percentage, a .231 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman infielder Katelyn Labelle (South Dartmouth, MA) has played in ten games, starting all of them. She is batting .158 with three hits, one double, six walks, four runs scored and four RBI. Labelle owns a .211 slugging percentage, a .360 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman outfielder Casie Lyons (Hudson, MA) has played in seven games, starting five of them. She is batting .273 with three hits and two runs scored. Lyons owns a .273 slugging percentage, a .273 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore outfielder Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in three games, starting two of them.

 

Sophomore catcher/utility Heather Koszela (Coventry, RI) has not appeared in any games this season.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen are scheduled to play three games this week, all of which are double-headers. RIC will host Coast Guard on Tuesday, March 23 at 3 p.m., then travel to Roger Williams on Thursday, March 25 at 4 p.m. before hosting Keene State on Saturday, March 27  at 1 p.m.
