Caren Normandin Earns Third Trip To NCGA Championships


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior Caren Normandin (Fall River, MA) qualified for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships as a floor and beam specialist from the East Region. This is the third consecutive NCGA qualification for Normandin.


En route to the qualification, Normandin led the Anchorwomen in every event at the ECAC Championships, posting scores of 9.250 on vault, 8.925 on bars, 9.475 on beam, 9.425 on floor and 37.075 on all-around. On the season, she is averaging scores of 9.272 on vault, 8.613 on bars, 9.394 on beam, 9.313 on floor and 36.591 in the all-around.


She is an elementary education major with a minor in special education and a 2001 graduate of Durfee High School.


Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team concluded their regular season with an overall record of 3-8 and a 3-4 mark against ECAC Div. III competition.
