Rhode Island College Announces
2003-04 Winter Sports MVPs

 

Providence, RI--The Rhode Island College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation held its annual Winter Banquet at RICís Donovan Dining Center on Monday, Mar. 22 to honor those student-athletes who participate in varsity winter athletics. Each sport gave out their Most Valuable Player Award.

 

Senior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) was named the menís indoor track and field team's MVP. This season, Rudd placed 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.71 at the ECAC Div. III Championships on Mar. 6. Rudd ran a season-best time of 1:54.50 in the 800 meters at the New England Open Championships on Feb. 28. He earned All-New England honors in two events at the N.E. Championships on Feb. 21. Rudd placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.47 and eighth as part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a school-record time of 3:28.14. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the Alliance/Little East Championships on Feb. 14. Rudd placed second in the 600 meters with a school-record time of 1:24.52, second in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:36.77 and first in both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay with times of 3:32.97 and a school record 8:27.78, respectively. He finished fifth in the mile with a season-best time of 4:26.60 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed first in the 1,000 meters with a season-best time of 2:36.67 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6. Rudd leaves RIC holding school records in the 600, 1,000, 1,500, and 3,000 meters. He is also a member of the RIC record-holding 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay squad.

 

He is a political science major and a 1999 graduate of Pilgrim High School.
