BRANNON DOWNS RAMS, 10-1

Providence, RIóRhode Island College junior pitcher Matt Brannon (Cranston, RI) hurled seven innings, allowing only one earned run with seven strikeouts as the Anchormen defeated Framingham State College, 10-1, in collegiate baseball action. Brannon improves to 2-1 on the season with the victory.

 

RIC broke the game open in the third inning as junior designated hitter Eric Kelly (Fall River, MA) singled in three runs to give RIC an early 3-0 lead.  FSC junior catcher Matt Vaccaro (Shrewsbury, MA) doubled and scored for the Rams lone run in the fourth.

 

RIC scored two in the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the eighth to round out the scoring. Junior left fielder Chris Higgins (Swansea, MA) went 2-3 with three runs scored, one RBI a double and a triple. Junior first baseman Brandon White (Foster, RI) went 3-3 with two runs and three RBI.

 

FSC starting pitcher Lee Diamantopoulos (Shrewsbury, MA) took the loss and falls to 0-2 on the year.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Worcester State College tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
