Rhode Island College Softball Update #3

(8-8 Overall; 1-1 in the Little East)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Maria Morinís team is 8-8 overall and 1-1 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen swept a doubleheader from Babson College in their only action last week on Mar. 30. RIC blanked Babson in game one, 6-0, then defeated the Beavers, 5-2, in the second contest.

 

Senior outfielder Sue Gaber (Colchester, CT) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is batting .357 with 20 hits, 12 runs scored, six RBI, three doubles and three stolen bases. Gaber has a .411 slugging percentage, a .383 on-base percentage and a .913 fielding percentage.

 

Senior pitcher/designated player Kim Warrington (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 12 games, starting eight of them. She is batting .286 with eight hits, three runs, five RBI and two home runs. Warrington owns a .500 slugging percentage, a .333 on-base percentage and a .947 fielding percentage. On the mound, Warrington has appeared in 13 games, starting eight of them. She owns a 4-4 record with a 2.57 ERA and two saves. In 60 innings pitched, she has struck out a team-high 79 batters.

 

Freshman catcher/infielder Kristyn Alexander (East Wareham, MA) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is batting .389 with 21 hits, one double, four runs scored, four steals and ten RBI. Alexander owns a .407 slugging percentage, a .393 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage. Alexander leads the team in batting and hits.

 

Junior infielder Amy Machado (Newport, RI) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is batting .320 with 16 hits, three doubles, four runs scored five RBI and one stolen base. Machado owns a .380 slugging percentage, a .358 on-base percentage and a .865 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman pitcher Nicole Riley (North Providence, RI) has appeared in ten games, starting eight of them. She owns a 4-4 record with a 1.99 ERA. In 45.2 innings pitched, she has struck out 46 batters.

 

Freshman infielder Crystal OíConnell (Somerset, MA) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is batting .214 with six hits, five runs scored, one double and three RBI. O'Connell owns a .250 slugging percentage, a .267 on-base percentage and a .957 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore outfielder Megan Ponte (Wakefield, RI) has played in 16 games, starting 15 of them. She is batting .267 with 12 hits, a team-high two triples, eight runs scored, five RBI and six stolen bases. Ponte owns a .356 slugging percentage, a .340 on-base percentage and a .765 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman outfielder Casie Lyons (Hudson, MA) has played in 13 games, starting ten of them. She is batting .250 with seven hits, four runs scored and one RBI. Lyons owns a .250 slugging percentage, a .250 on-base percentage and a .941 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore outfielder Andree Sitnik (Lincoln, RI) has played in ten games, starting two of them. She is batting .250 with two hits and two runs scored hit. Sitnik owns a .250 slugging percentage, a .250 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Junior catcher Rachael Caldwell (Richmond, RI) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is batting .217 with ten hits, two doubles, six runs scored and three RBI. Caldwell owns a .261 slugging percentage, a .284 on-base percentage and a .985 fielding percentage.

 

Senior outfielder Hollie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in 11 games, starting five of them. She is batting .077 with one hit, one run scored and one RBI. Benevides owns a .077 slugging percentage, a .200 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman infielder Katelyn Labelle (South Dartmouth, MA) has played in 16 games, starting all of them. She is batting .139 with five hits, two doubles, four runs scored and six RBI. Labelle owns a .194 slugging percentage, a .295 on-base percentage and a .974 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore outfielder Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in six games, starting four of them.

 

Junior infielder Aimee Reed (Pawcatuck, CT) has played in eight games, starting six of them. She is batting .250 with one hit, three walks, one run scored and one RBI. Reed owns a .250 slugging percentage, a .571 on-base percentage and a .840 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore infielder Alyssa Severino (Taunton, MA) has played in six games, starting all of them. She is batting .167 with one hit. Severino owns a .167 slugging percentage, a .167 on-base percentage and a .857 fielding percentage.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Worcester State (DH) on Wednesday, Apr. 7, play at Salve Regina (DH) on Thursday, Apr. 8 and host UMass-Boston (DH) on Saturday, Apr. 10.
