Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Update #2

 

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the RIC Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 3. The Anchormen finished fourth out of ten teams with a score of 82 points. Colby College won the event with 148 points.

 

Sophomore Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.75. He placed 11th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:07.99 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

                                                                                                                                                                                             

Junior Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) finished third in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.28 meters and ninth in the shot with a distance of 11.09 meters. He placed sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 156’08" at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Senior Mike Basilico (Johnston, RI) finished fifth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:21.79. He placed 11th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:28.21 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Junior Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI) placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.69.

 

Sophomore Nick Palazzo (Providence, RI) finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.53 meters. He placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 158’09’’ at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Freshman Tim Goodwin (Warwick, RI) finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:57.52. He placed 47th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:22.84 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Sophomore Matt Goroza (West Warwick, RI) finished 17th in the 400 meters with a time of 56.98, 18th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.86 and 18th with a time of 26.13 in the 200 meters. He placed 36th in the 400 meters with a time of 56.30 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Freshman Craig Miniter (Meriden, CT) placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 8’00’’.

 

Freshman Jam Luong (Millbury, MA) finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.32 meters and second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.91 meters. He placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 39’.01" at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Freshman John Martinelli (North Providence, RI) finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 53.19, 11th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.40 and ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.49. He placed 15th in the 400 meters with a time of 52.94 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Freshman Chris Matteson (Wood River Junction, RI) finished 19th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:19.85. He placed 38th in the 400 meters with a time of 58.91 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Freshman Eric Oulette (East Providence, RI) placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.91.

 

Freshman Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) placed first in the high jump with a mark of 6’01’’. He placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 6’00" at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Freshman Javon Partin (Providence, RI) finished 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.29. He placed 18th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.12 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

Freshman Alex Hand (East Greenwich, RI) placed 20th in the discus with a distance of 107’05’’ at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will compete at the Bryant College Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 10 at 11 a.m.
