2004 Rhode Island College Menís Tennis Update #5

(5-9 Overall; 2-3 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kelly Langeís team is 5-9 overall and 2-3 in the Little East Conference. RIC went 2-1 last week. The Anchormen fell to Johnson & Wales, 6-0, in a rain-shortened match on Apr. 27. RIC improved its conference record by defeating Salem State, 6-3, on Apr. 29. The Anchormen closed out the regular season with a, 9-0, win over Newbury on May 2.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will take part in the 2004 Little East Conference Championships, hosted by Southern Maine, on May 7-8.

 

Junior Julio Andrade (Cranston, RI) is 8-5 (.615) in singles and 3-11 (.214) in doubles for 9.5 points on the season.

 

Senior Sean McClelland (Pawtucket, RI) is 2-2 (.500) in singles and 6-7 (.462) in doubles for 5.0 points on the season.

 

Senior Ben Powell (Elk River, MN) is 1-7 (.125) in singles and 1-2 (.333) in doubles for 1.5 points on the season.

 

Junior Adam Pierpaoli (Smithfield, RI) is 3-9 (.250) in singles and 3-10 (.231) in doubles for 4.5 points on the season.

 

Junior Tim Smith (Jamestown, RI) is 4-2 (.667) in singles and 7-5 (.583) in doubles for 7.5 points on the season.

 

Sophomore Chris Furey (Cabot, VT) is 6-7 (.462) in singles and 4-6 (.400) in doubles for 8.0 points on the season.

 

Sophomore Jason LaDuke (Warren, RI) is 0-6 (.000) in singles and 6-6 (.500) in doubles for 3.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Richard Truchon (North Scituate, RI) is 5-8 (.385) in singles and 0-4 (.000) in doubles for 5.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Tauquir Puthawala (Lincoln, RI) is 0-6 (.000) in singles and 0-2 (.000) in doubles for 0.3 points on the season.
