Ray De La Cruz Named Baseball MVP

 

Providence, RI--The Rhode Island College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation held its annual Spring Banquet at RICís Donovan Dining Center on Monday, May 3 to honor those student-athletes who participate in varsity spring athletics. Sophomore shortstop Ray De La Cruz (Pawtucket, RI) was named the baseball team's MVP.

 

 De La Cruz has played in 29 games, starting all of them, for the 17-14 Anchormen. He is batting .394 with 50 hits, eight doubles, three triples, five home runs, seven walks, 35 runs scored and 25 RBI. De La Cruz owns a .622 slugging percentage, a .429 on-base percentage and a .870 fielding percentage.

 

De La Cruz is a 2002 graduate of Shea High School.
