McCalligett and Skorupa to Captain
Rhode Island College
Womenís Indoor Track & Field

 

Providence, RIóRhode Island College junior Kate McCalligett (Warwick, RI) and sophomore Dana Skorupa (Cumberland, RI) will captain the womenís indoor track and field team for the 2003-04 season.

 

As a sophomore in 2002-03, McCalligett placed 21th in the 400 meters at the ECAC Championships. She earned All-New England honors in the 400 meters, placing eighth at the New England Championships. McCalligett earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in both the 400 and 200 meters.

 

She is a nursing major and a 2001 graduate of Pilgrim High School.

 

As a freshman in 2002-03, Skorupa earned All-New England honors in the 55 meters, placing seventh at last seasonís New England Championships. She earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 55 meters, placing second. Skorupa placed eighth in the 300 meters at the Brown Invitational with a time of 45.44, establishing a new RIC record for that event.

 

She is a elementary education major and a 2002 graduate of Cumberland High School.

 

Head Coach Kevin Jacksonís team opens the season at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m.
