COLEMAN’S 35 POINTS LEADS WARRIORS PAST RIC

Providence, RI—Eastern Connecticut State University senior guard Allison Coleman (Jewett City, CT) scored a game-high 35 points to lead the Warriors past Rhode Island College, 60-42, in collegiate women’s basketball action. Eastern Connecticut, the eighth-ranked team in the country (Div. III), improves to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the Little East Conference.

Coleman was the story offensively and defensively for ECSU. She shot 13-24 from the field and was a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. She added 14 rebounds four assists, two blocks and a steal in the win.

The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Anchorwomen, who fall to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Little East. RIC played the Warriors tough, leading for most of the first half until ECSU came back to take the lead just prior to the break.

Senior guard Abby Ferri (Coventry, RI) led RIC with ten points and freshman forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

RIC is off for finals and Christmas. The Anchorwomen will play at the Colby College Invitational on Jan. 2-3. The Warriors will host SUNY-New Paltz on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m.
