CARDINALS STAY UNBEATEN WITH, 68-49, WIN AT RIC

 

            Providence, RI—The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University Cardinals improved to 9-0 with a, 68-49, victory over Rhode Island College in collegiate women’s basketball action. The 9-0 start continues the best start in school history and establishes a new school record for consecutive victories.

 

Sophomore forward Ashley Mastrangelo (Marblehead, MA) scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Cardinals. Senior guard Amy Posocco (Willington, CT) and sophomore forward Hannah Stubbs (Arlington, VA) also scored in double figures with 18 and 11 points respectively. Senior forward Liz Walsh (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) led all rebounders with a game-high 12 boards.

 

RIC falls to 6-4 in the loss. Freshman forward Keri Geisler (Derry, NH) scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a losing effort.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play at UMass-Boston on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. Wesleyan will play at Albertus Magnus on Tuesday. Jan. 13.
