Rhode Island College Menís Basketball Update #7

(5-9 Overall, 2-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Michael Kellyís team is 5-9 overall and 2-2 in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen dropped two tough Little East Conference games last week. RIC was defeated, 71-68, by Southern Maine on Jan. 13 and lost to LEC leader Keene State, 78-67, on Jan. 17.

 

Senior guard Kamran Alemdar (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in 14 games, starting 13 of them. He is averaging a team-high 13.1 points, while also contributing 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

 

Freshman guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) has played in 14 games, starting 11 of them. He is averaging 11.8 points and 2.6 rebounds, while contributing a team-best amount of assists, 56, and steals, 24.

 

Junior forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) has joined the team for the second semester. He has played in four games, starting three of them. He is averaging 11.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Harris scored a game-high 21 points in RICís loss at Southern Maine.

 

Senior guard Lester Carter (Boston, MA) has played in 14 games, starting five of them. He is averaging 7.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.

 

Freshman center Kevin Zalucki (Enfield, CT) has played in 14 games, starting 11 of them. He is averaging 9.2 points, as well as a team-best 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.

 

Sophomore forward Brian Stanko (Swansea, MA) has played in 14 games, starting 12 of them. He is averaging 9.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore guard K.C. Grandfield (Dartmouth, MA) has played in 12 games, starting 11 of them. He is averaging 5.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and a team-high 4.5 assists per game.

 

Freshman center Anthony Pierlioni (Plainville, CT) has played 12 games. He is averaging 4.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. Pierlioni scored ten points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss to Keene State.

 

Sophomore guard Kevin Payette (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 12 games, starting one of them. He is averaging 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) has played in 14 games. He is averaging 4.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

 

Freshman guard Amde Tegbaru (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in ten games. He is averaging 2.5 points per game. Tegbaru came off the bench versus Keene State and was 3-3 from three-point range.

 

Freshman forward John Weir (Danbury, CT) has played in 14 games. He is averaging 2.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore forward Brendan Mullen (Fairhaven, MA) has played in 14 games, starting three of them. He is averaging 3.1 points and 0.5 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore guard Jared Starnino (Providence, RI) has played in eight games. He is averaging 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play three LEC games in five days. First, the Anchormen will travel to UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 7:30. Then, itís back home for a make-up game versus Plymouth State, on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. Finally, RIC heads back on the road to face Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m.
