Freshmen Duo Lead Anchorwomen Past UMass-Dartmouth

            Providence, RI—The Rhode Island College Anchorwomen defeated the UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs, 73-57, in collegiate women’s basketball action. With the win, RIC improves to 14-8 overall and 6-5 in conference action, while the loss drops UMass-Dartmouth to 9-13 overall and 5-6 in LEC play.

 

RIC used an 18-5 run to close the first half giving RIC a five-point halftime lead. The Anchorwomen then ran away from the Corsairs in the second stanza led by freshmen forwards Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) and Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH). Geisler finished with a team-high 18 rebounds, while pouring in 14 points for her seventh double-double of the season. Rosen, scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Scoring a team-high 15 points, with the majority of points from three-point territory, was freshman guard Lisa Ranzoni (Lee, MA).

 

UMD junior guard Bridget Bowes (Mansfield, MA) had 19 points and six rebounds in a losing effort.
