Rhode Island College Gymnastics Update #4

(3-6 Overall; 3-4 in the ECAC)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team is 3-6 overall and are 3-4 against ECAC Div. III competition. The Anchorwomen saw action in only one meet last week, falling, 175.650-187.575, at Div. II Southern Connecticut on Saturday, Feb. 14. It was RIC's highest team score of the season. The team's previous high was 174.025 set back on Jan. 31 at SUNY-Cortland.


Junior Caren Normandin (Fall River, MA) led the team on vault, beam and in the all-around at Southern Connecticut, posting scores of 9.375, 9.550 and 36.425, respectively. Her 9.550 score on beam is a new school record for that event. Normandin was previously tied with Sajdah Ahmad with a score 9.475 she set last winter.


Normandin is averaging scores of 9.285 on vault, 8.545 on bars, 9.435 on beam, 9.245 on floor and 36.510 in the all-around.


Freshman Hannah Scott (Deep River, CT) posted the squad's highest marks on bars and floor at Southern Connecticut with scores of 8.950 and 9.275, respectively. She is averaging scores of 8.795 on vault, 8.435 on bars, 8.560 on beam, 8.935 on floor and 34.725 in the all-around.


Freshman Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) is averaging scores of 8.805 on vault, 7.388 on bars, 8.695 on beam, 8.840 on floor and 33.925 in the all-around.


Freshman Melissa Jones (Cranston, RI) is averaging scores of 9.100 on vault, 7.330 on bars, 8.180 on beam, 8.794 on floor and 33.431 in the all-around.


Junior Michaela Hogan (Warwick, RI) is averaging scores of 8.919 on vault, 8.365 on bars and 8.538 on floor.


Freshman Kristina Lemanis (Smithtown, NY) is averaging a score of 7.830 on bars.


Sophomore Cristy Pforr (Pembroke, MA) is averaging scores of 8.490 on vault, 8.495 on beam and 8.655 on floor.


Freshman Cassie O’Blenis (Warren, RI) is averaging scores of 8.650 on vault, 6.400 on bars and 8.500 on floor.


Junior Staci Freedman (Raynham, MA) is averaging scores of 9.050 on beam and 9.188 on floor.


In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the Harriet Marranca Invitational, hosted by Ithaca, on Saturday, Feb. 21.
