Rhode Island College Menís Indoor Track Update #9

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jacksonís team competed at the New England Division III Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College, on Saturday, Feb. 21. RIC tied for 15th place (21 teams) with 13.0 points. Williams College won the event with 115.50 points.

 

Sophomore Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in two events. Karngar placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.50 and eighth as part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:28.14. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the Alliance/Little East Championships on Feb. 14. Karngar placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.27, first in the 400 meters with a time of 50.35, first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.22 and first as part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:32.97.

 

Senior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) earned All-New England honors in two events. Rudd placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.47 and eighth as part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:28.14. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the Alliance/Little East Championships on Feb. 14. Rudd placed second in the 600 meters with a time of 1:24.52, second in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:36.77 and first in both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay with times of 3:32.97 and 8:27.78, respectively.

 

Junior Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI) earned All-New England honors in one event. Precourt placed eighth as part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:28.14. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in two events at the Alliance/Little East Championships on Feb. 14. He placed seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 54.18 and first as part of the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:32.97. He also placed 12th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.47.

 

Freshman John Martinelli (North Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in one event. Martinelli placed eighth as part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:28.14. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in two events at the Alliance/Little East Championships on Feb. 14. He placed eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 54.26 and first as part of the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:32.97. He also placed 21st in the 55 meters with a time of 7.12 and 18th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.64.

 

Freshman Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) earned All-New England honors in one event. He placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.89 meters.

 

Sophomore Nick Palazzo (Johnston, RI) placed 21st in the weight throw with a distance of 12.28 meters.
