GULLS DEFEAT ANCHORWOMEN, 1-0

Providence, RI—Endicott College blanked Rhode Island College, 1-0, to open the 2004 women’s soccer campaign. The Gulls improve to 1-0, while the loss drops the Anchorwomen to 0-1.

 

RIC dominated play in the first half, outshooting the Gulls 10-2. Endicott came back in the second frame when senior forward Leah Walters (Brookline, MA) scored unassisted in the 49th minute for the game’s only goal. Senior goalkeeper Sarah Nichols (Middletown, CT) played the first half and made two saves. Sophomore Tina Loguidice (Hyde Park, NY) took over in the second half and made three saves down the stretch to earn the win.

 

RIC senior forward Lauren Tomasso (Cranston, RI) paced the Anchorwoman offense with five shots. Senior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) made three saves in a losing effort.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will play at Roger Williams on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m.
