TEIXEIRA’S THREE GOALS GIVE RIC FIRST LEC WIN

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI) registered a hat trick for the second time this season and helped lead the Anchormen to a, 5-1, win over visiting Eastern Connecticut State University. RIC evens its overall mark at 3-3 and is now 1-0 in the Little East Conference. The Warriors remain winless at 0-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the LEC.

Teixeira scored the first of his three goals just 3:49 into the contest when he converted on a penalty kick after being taken down in the box. He added a second tally with just six seconds left in the first frame to give RIC a 2-0 lead at the half. Teixeira scored once again in the 54th minute to round out his offensive output on the day.

RIC freshman Steve Alves (Seekonk, MA) scored in the 59th minute and sophomore Chris Childs (Cranston, RI) registered his first tally of the season in the 73rd minute to put the Anchormen up 5-0. Eastern Connecticut finally got on the board in the 89th minute as sophomore Dave Scagliarini (Groton, CT) converted on a pass from senior Zac Griffin (Manchester, CT).
