Rhode Island College Womenís Tennis Update #3

(4-0 Overall; 3-0 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kelly Chartierís Anchorwomen are 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen had two Little East Conference matches last week and were victorious in both of them. RIC defeated Western Connecticut, 7-2, on Tuesday, Sept. 14 and beat Southern Maine, 5-4, on Friday, Sept. 17.

 

Senior captain Meghan Mooney (North Scituate, RI) is 2-2 (.500) at number two singles and 0-3 (.000) at number one doubles for 2.0 points on the season. Mooney went 2-0 last week at number two singles and earned the match-clinching victory in the LEC win over Southern Maine. For her efforts, she was named the Little Eastís Womenís Tennis Player of the Week.

 

Sophomore Audrey Davis (Stroudsburg, PA) is 3-0 (1.000) in singles and 3-0 (1.000) in doubles for 4.5 points on the season. Davis went 2-0 at both number three singles and number two doubles in a perfect week for the Anchorwomen. For her efforts, she was named the Little Eastís Womenís Tennis Rookie of the Week.

 

Junior captain Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) is 1-3 (.250) at number one singles and 0-4 (.000) at number one doubles for 1.0 point on the season.

 

Senior captain Samantha Hedden (Rumford, RI) is 2-1 (.667) in singles and 0-1 in doubles for 2.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Kseniya Gurvich (Barrington, RI) is 3-1 (.750) in singles and 2-0 (1.000) in doubles for 4.0 points on the season. Gurvich has been named the LECís Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Sophomore Caitlin Morin (Westerly, RI) is 1-1 (.500) in singles and 3-0 in doubles for 2.5 points on the season.

 

Sophomore Tara Marchant (North Scituate, RI) is 2-0 in singles (1.000) and is 4-0 in doubles for 4.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Michaela Grant (Smithfield, RI) is 3-0 (1.000) in doubles for 1.5 points on the season.

 

      Freshman Ashley Barry (Bristol, RI) is 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 0.5 points on the season.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at Springfield College on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m., and will host Castleton State College on Sunday, Sept. 26 at noon.
